Leptospermum scoparium

Also known as Tea Tree. White to red flowers cover this native tree/shrub from early spring through to early summer.

Needs careful pruning, since mature wood does not have live buds. In general, a light pruning after the flowering period is suggested.

This shrub has glossy, dark green leaves that are thick and fleshy. Underneath, the leaves are white and felt-like. White daisy-like flowers. Loves full sun.

Ranunculus lyallii

The world's largest buttercup! In spring magnificent white buttercups spring from big glossy saucer shaped leaves. A hardy plant; however, it does delight in cool moist conditions and partial shade. Native to the Southern Alps.

Metrosideros excelsa

Also known as the NZ Christmas Tree. A well established long standing tree in full flower, commands admiration. A magnificent tree.

Delicate red flowers arrive in late spring and carry on through to late summer. Slow growing.

Clianthus puniceus rosea

Lush, green, wide-spreading shrub that produces stunning large red flowers which hang in clusters of 15-20 blooms in spring. Flowers are shaped like a parrots beak, hence the name.

Caution: snails can strip masses of leaves overnight!

Astelia chathamica

Silver Spear is a hardy, clump-forming perennial with elegant silvery spear-shaped leaves. During mid to late spring, long stalks of yellowish-green flowers emerge from female plants, that give rise to orange berries in summer. "Cold Stratify" required, detailed cultural information on packet.
