Cichorium endive
Very similar to a fancy lettuce only the thick, frilled, buttery leaves are tender, yet crisp and have a distinctive, if not slightly bitter flavour. Excellent for salads or mesclun blends.
The inner leaves blanch to a creamy white. Great texture for warm chicken or feta salads.
